The Jostiband is part of Ipse de Bruggen care organisation. Only a small proportion of the more than 5000 clients are involved in the orchestra, but the impact is great.
People with disabilities must and can participate fully in society. The Jostiband shows this on stage and in the media.
The Jostiband has a small but diverse group of clients. From EMB (severe multiple disabilities) to LVB (light mental handicap). Young and old. Clients with behaviour that is difficult to understand, dementia or hearing problems also find their rhythm there. It is an orchestra where people keep developing. Musically, but also socially and emotionally.
That is why the Jostiband fits in so well with Ipse de Bruggen. Ipse de Bruggen wants to offer support so that you can get more out of yourself. And discover what suits you best.
You can see this everywhere. In the homes, at the day care centre, and in outpatient care. And you will notice it as a customer in the hospitality and shops of Ipse de Bruggen. Ipse de Bruggen’s historic farm and Gasterij “De Bollaarshoeve” day care centre in Oostvoorne employs enthusiastic people with a mental disability.
Knowledge about music and inclusion
Jan van Hoek, chairman of the board of Ipse de Bruggen care organisation, hopes that this site and the Jostiband books will inspire: “The Jostiband is so beautiful, unique and special. I am proud that the Jostiband is part of us and is really in our DNA. Thanks to the orchestra, we have gained a lot of knowledge about making music with a disability. We are very happy to share it. I hope that many more people – with and without disabilities – can use our Colour Music to realise their musical passion.”
